What should I know about OneMira C1?

What is OneMira C1?

OneMira C1 is a dedicated AI voice recorder and note taker for Builders. It captures desk conversations, voice notes, and supported computer calls, runs OneMira transcription on a supported computer, and saves the durable result as local OKF Markdown for compatible AI workflows.

Who is OneMira C1 for, and when is it not the right fit?

C1 is for people whose useful decisions, feedback, and ideas happen out loud and who want editable local notes for the AI tools they already use. It may not be the right fit if phone capture already meets your needs, you want a completely turnkey cloud summarizer with no setup, or you must retain a permanent audio archive.

Why use dedicated hardware instead of a phone app or meeting bot?

Dedicated hardware keeps capture separate from your phone, browser tab, and meeting platform. C1 can stay available for long desk sessions without tying up your phone or adding a bot to the room, while its visible turntable motion gives people a physical cue that recording is active.

Where are my notes and audio stored, and does anything go to the cloud?

Durable notes stay on your computer as plain-text files. Encrypted audio slices remain on C1 only while capture, transfer, or local transcription is pending. As the local computer consumes each slice for transcription, that slice is deleted immediately. OneMira does not upload C1 audio to a shared OneMira cloud workspace. If you send notes to a third-party AI, that provider's data terms apply.

Is there a monthly fee or a transcription-minute quota?

No OneMira subscription is required, and OneMira does not meter local transcription minutes. Actual use is still constrained by your computer, storage, battery, and any separate limits or fees from third-party AI services you choose.

Does C1 need internet or Wi-Fi?

C1 has no Wi-Fi. It connects to a supported computer over Bluetooth or USB-C, and OneMira transcription runs locally after the model is installed. Internet access may be needed for initial software or model downloads and by any third-party AI service you choose.

How do my AI tools use C1 notes?

Compatible workflows in ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients can use selected local notes through files, CLI, or MCP after the documented setup. The notes are standard OKF Markdown, so you can also open them in Obsidian, search them with tools such as ripgrep, or version them with git. For everyday use, you can ask a compatible agent in plain language instead of memorizing commands; exact capabilities depend on the client.

Can C1 or a connected AI change my project files?

C1 itself does not reach into your repository or edit project files. A connected AI agent can only read or change files within the access and permissions you give that agent; you decide what context to disclose and what proposed changes to review or accept.

Can I use C1 across multiple computers or agents?

Yes. Like a Bluetooth speaker or headset, C1 can be connected to only one computer at a time. While connected, C1 and that computer sync data in both directions in real time. When you disconnect C1 and pair it with another computer, OneMira prompts you to run an initial sync. After that first sync, C1 and the newly connected computer continue to sync bidirectionally in real time. Agents on the active computer can use that computer's local context through files, CLI, or MCP.

Can C1 capture online calls while I wear headphones?

Yes, on supported computers and with the documented setup. C1 can combine your nearby voice with far-end audio from supported calls without occupying the computer's microphone or audio inputs. Far-end capture on Mac requires macOS 14.2 or later and the documented Core Audio process-tap setup.

How well does C1 capture voices, and how large a room can it cover?

Two MEMS microphones, an on-chip neural engine, and hardware noise cancellation help keep nearby voices clear, while local processing can label speakers in the transcript. The effective pickup range is about 3 m, so C1 is intended for desks, calls, and small-room discussions rather than large halls. Results depend on distance, overlapping speech, and room acoustics.

How do I start recording, and can C1 record away from my computer?

Press once to start capture, or configure scheduled start and stop windows. C1 can continue capturing while away from the computer; encrypted audio slices remain on the device until the documented transfer and local transcription workflow can consume them.

How long do the battery and storage last?

The 1250mAh battery provides up to 30 hours of continuous recording and up to 60 days of standby. C1 includes 32 GB of persistent context storage—enough for 10+ years of typical use. This estimate excludes temporary offline audio, which follows the documented transfer and deletion lifecycle.

Which systems and connections does C1 support?

C1 supports macOS 12 or later and Windows 10 or later. It connects over Bluetooth 5.4 (LE Audio) or USB-C and has no Wi-Fi.

How many languages does C1 support?

C1 supports speech transcription in 99 languages, covering most widely spoken languages and many regional languages. Availability and accuracy can vary by language, accent, speaker, and recording conditions.

Do I need consent to record?

Recording laws vary by location and situation, so you are responsible for checking and obtaining any consent the law requires. The safest practical default is to tell participants before capture begins and get their agreement; seek qualified legal advice when the rule is unclear.

Is C1 GDPR- or HIPAA-compliant?

C1 alone does not make a workflow GDPR- or HIPAA-compliant. Local transcription can reduce transfer to a vendor-operated transcription cloud, but compliance still depends on consent, retention, access controls, your computer environment, organization, jurisdiction, and any third-party AI service you use.
