Offline AI meeting notes turn a conversation into a transcript and useful notes on your own computer, without sending that content to a cloud AI service. With OneMira C1, the recorder captures speech and OneMira Desktop handles local transcription and note generation. Complete the software and model downloads first; the built-in local workflow can then run without an internet connection or an external AI subscription.
For a meeting, interview, or spoken idea, the useful result is something you can return to: what was discussed, what was decided, and what needs attention next. This guide explains the setup, costs, and file handling that matter when choosing an offline AI note taker.
What does an offline AI note taker actually do?
An offline note-taking workflow needs to handle both speech-to-text and note generation locally. Recording without a connection, transcribing speech, and generating a summary are separate capabilities. Check each one instead of assuming that an “offline recorder” includes all three.
- Capture on C1. The recorder captures speech and temporarily stores encrypted audio slices.
- Transcribe on your computer. OneMira Desktop turns speech into readable text with speaker labels.
- Generate notes locally. A downloaded model on your computer creates meeting notes or mind maps.
- Keep usable text. Local Markdown files remain available to search, edit, and open with your own tools.
“On-device transcription” needs a clear device name. For C1, that device is your computer. The recorder itself does not turn speech into a finished transcript or summary. Optional cloud AI services are a separate choice.
How do conversations become meeting notes with OneMira C1?
Press C1 to capture the conversation, then use OneMira Desktop to transcribe and organize it locally. The physical recording control keeps your phone free for other tasks.
- Set up once. Install OneMira Desktop, pair C1, and complete the required software and model downloads. Desktop recommends a local model size for your computer.
- Capture the conversation. Press C1 to start. The turntable rotates to show that recording is active. C1 connects to the paired computer through Bluetooth or USB-C.
- Use the transcript as it grows. When connected, Desktop transcribes speech locally in real time. The conversation can become usable context while the meeting is still in progress.
- Generate and review notes. Use the built-in local model for meeting notes or a mind map. Check important names, numbers, decisions, and commitments before sharing the result.
A useful brief for your notes is: “Summarize the discussion, separate confirmed decisions from suggestions, and list the next steps. Include an owner or deadline only when one was actually stated.” This gives you a practical record to review rather than a polished paragraph that hides unresolved questions.

Can I get AI meeting notes without a subscription?
Yes. OneMira's built-in local workflow does not require a recurring OneMira plan or an external AI subscription. Local transcription is not billed by the minute. You buy the C1 hardware and use your own computer for processing and storage.
You can also choose a third-party AI service or a model hosted on your local network. Those choices have their own setup, network requirements, and possible fees. You do not need to connect ChatGPT, Claude, or another external assistant to use the built-in local model.
When comparing subscription-free AI voice recorders, check whether the included capability is recording, transcription, generated notes, or all three. Also check any limits on history, exports, or processing time. “No subscription” alone does not describe the complete workflow.
What computer and setup do I need?
You need a supported Mac or Windows computer running OneMira Desktop. Start with the current desktop downloads and setup instructions, then choose the recommended local model for your machine.
Allow time and storage for the initial downloads before taking the workflow offline. Model size and your computer's capabilities affect local processing; this guide does not promise identical speed on every laptop. For supported online-call capture, check the operating-system requirements in the setup guide as well.
C1 can capture away from the computer for later local processing. That is different from producing a live transcript while the recorder is disconnected.
Where do the recordings and notes go?
In the built-in local workflow, transcription and note generation happen on your computer. The resulting notes are local Markdown files that you can open, edit, and back up with your own tools.
C1 does not preserve the original audio for permanent replay. Encrypted audio slices are temporary: each slice is deleted as the computer consumes it for transcription. If your work requires a lasting audio recording, choose a workflow that explicitly preserves one.
If you choose to send notes to an external AI service, that service's data handling applies. Local transcription does not make a later cloud request local. Likewise, any backup or synchronization tool you choose determines where its copies are stored.
How can I check the offline workflow before relying on it?
Try a short, non-sensitive conversation on the computer you plan to use. Complete installation first, select the built-in local model, and then disconnect the computer from the internet while keeping the C1 connection available.
- Capture a few minutes containing names, numbers, and a clear decision.
- Check the transcript against what was actually said.
- Generate meeting notes and check that they preserve the decision and its context.
- Open the resulting local text and confirm that you can find it again.
This checks whether the selected workflow works offline for your setup. It is not a test of every network behavior or a guarantee of accuracy in every room.
When is a dedicated AI voice recorder a good fit?
C1 is worth considering when you regularly capture conversations, want your phone available for other tasks, and prefer local notes without another subscription. You should be comfortable using a desktop app and keeping text as the lasting record.
If you only record occasionally and your phone already meets your needs, another device may add little. If your priority is permanent audio playback or an entirely phone-based workflow, evaluate those requirements before choosing C1.
